WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
WE WANT TO PRESERVE 2 BUILDINGS ON KAPALMA MILITARY RESERVATION. THEY WERE OF VITAL USE DURING BOTH THE KOREAN AND VIETNAM WAR.
BUILDING 914- MORGUE which processed ALL of Hawaii's K.I.A. during the Korean War, and approximately 35,000 Returning K.I.A.'s from the Vietnam conflict between 1958 and 1975. This was also the receiving center for those service personnel being sent to Hawaii for burial at Punchbowl National Cemetary.
BUILDING 913 - CHAPEL where countless services were held for those on their final trip home.
These 2 buildings were identified by an independant historical survey company (hired by the State of Hawaii to assess the Kapalama Military Reservation) as the only 2 buildings on the entire 104 acre property that had historical value and should be preserved!
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT - THIS IS NOT A HAWAII ISSUE - BUT ONE OF
NATIONAL PRIDE & INTEREST!
WE ARE ACCEPTING DONATIONS - TO HELP US WITH THE ENORMOUS TASK OF GETTING THIS PROJECT UNDERWAY.
OUR GOAL IS TO RESTORE THE MORGUE TO IT'S ORIGINAL CONDITION AND TO OBTAIN A REPLICA OF THE "TRAVELING VIETNAM WALL" AND HAVE IT LOCATED AT THE OPPOSITE END OF THE BUILDING FROM THE MORGUE, WHERE OUR LOCAL VIETNAM VETERAN UNITS CAN MAINTAIN THEIR OWN DISPLAYS IN THEIR OWN "HAWAII VIETNAM VETERANS CENTER". WE WILL ALSO HAVE A SECTION DEDICATED TO OUR KOREAN VETERANS.
We have an original 1950's M.A.S.H. Hospital scenario set up to show the type of equipment that was used in the field by our medical personnel aiding our injured soldiers.
WHILE SHOPPING WITH US AT MILITARY HQ -- PLEASE ASK US TO SHOW YOU THIS SECTION OF THE BUILDING. WE ARE NOT - (AS YET)- ZONED FOR MUSEUMS - SO WE CAN NOT OPEN IT UP TO THE PUBLIC - BUT YOU ARE WELCOME TO VISIT IT !!
